Day of the Dead (or Dia de los Muertos) is right around the corner! Don’t miss the opportunity to share this important cultural tradition with your students. Often misunderstood, this popular Mexican holiday honors ancestors and loved ones who have died, and is celebrated each year on November 1st & 2nd. This family-centered holiday celebrates the cycle of […]
We had a blast at my Teach Kids Art: “Day of the Dead” workshop yesterday! I added a new project this year, “Day of the Dead Prints” — inspired by Jose Posada. Hi! I'm Cheryl, and I'm a big fan of kids' artwork! For the last 20+ years, I've had the privilege of teaching art to kids from kindergarten through high school.... in public, private, charter, and homeschool settings. Now I'm focusing on mentoring other teachers through demos, workshops, and sharing lessons and more on my blog. I have a degree in art and an art ed credential, but I've learned that you don't need to be an "artist" or have an art background yourself to teach art to kids. All you need are good lessons to follow (like following a recipe) and the willingness to have fun! Over the years, I’ve developed hundreds of successful, classroom-tested art lessons for kids, and all the tips, methods, and strategies to go along with them! My passion now is to make all this available to classroom teachers, homeschool teachers, parents, and grandparents.… to anyone who wants to share the joy of ART with the kids in their life!
Teach Kids Art began in August 2008 as a way for me to share my lessons, tips, and ideas for teaching art with other teachers. As Teach Kids Art has grown over the years, it has truly been a labor of love…. all the content I share here is free!
