Even Van Gogh himself would be proud of this copy of his “Café Terrace” painting, created by our 2nd graders to raise money at our annual school auction. Each year, our school holds a fundraiser auction to raise money for special programs. While many valuable items are donated to be auctioned off, the items that […]
I do this project year after year with the 1st graders, and it’s always a hit. The kids really get creative with their buildings and the results are fabulous! Directions: 1. Hi! I'm Cheryl, and I'm a big fan of kids' artwork! For the last 20+ years, I've had the privilege of teaching art to kids from kindergarten through high school.... in public, private, charter, and homeschool settings. Now I'm focusing on mentoring other teachers through demos, workshops, and sharing lessons and more on my blog. I have a degree in art and an art ed credential, but I've learned that you don't need to be an "artist" or have an art background yourself to teach art to kids. All you need are good lessons to follow (like following a recipe) and the willingness to have fun! Over the years, I’ve developed hundreds of successful, classroom-tested art lessons for kids, and all the tips, methods, and strategies to go along with them! My passion now is to make all this available to classroom teachers, homeschool teachers, parents, and grandparents.… to anyone who wants to share the joy of ART with the kids in their life!
Teach Kids Art began in August 2008 as a way for me to share my lessons, tips, and ideas for teaching art with other teachers. As Teach Kids Art has grown over the years, it has truly been a labor of love…. all the content I share here is free!
