Celebrate National Arts in Education Week
The week beginning with the second Sunday in September is National Arts in Education Week. This year that’s September 9-15, 2018.
It’s all about arts advocacy and sharing why education in the arts is so important.
What will YOU do to celebrate? Here are a few ideas!
- Sign the petition to U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos. Drastic cuts have been proposed to the arts-friendly provisions of the 2015 Every Student Succeeds Act. We need to encourage Secretary DeVos to take action in ensuring equitable access to arts education for all students.
- Send a customizable letter to the editor of your local paper to tell them how and why the arts matter in education! We need our local leaders to plan, budget for, and enact laws that support the arts in every school and every community.
- Use the hashtags #BecauseOfArtsEd and #ArtsEdWeek to share YOUR story of the transformative power of the arts in your own education and the impact the arts have had on your work and life. Let’s light up Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with the life-changing power of the arts in education!
