A photo of the website for ordering keepsake gifts from kids' artworkThink of that hard-to-buy-for friend or family member on your gift list. If you could give them a creative gift they would not only use often but also keep for years to come, you’d call that a “win”, right? Then I have the perfect gift idea for you… a keepsake gift made with your child’s artwork from Kids Kreations. Welcome to part 3 of my Creative Gift Guide!

What is Kids Kreations?

Most people think of Kids Kreations as a family-owned, keepsake fundraiser company started by Lance and Melissa Stewart in 2000. In my years of teaching K-8 Art, we exclusively used Kids Kreations for our kids’ art fundraisers. I would send them student artwork which they scanned and printed onto a wide variety of unique products ordered by parents, with proceeds benefitting our school.

What you may not know about Kids Kreations is this… you no longer need to be involved with a school or be doing a fundraiser to order from them! They now accept orders from individuals, and this might be just the gift-giving answer you’ve been looking for.

How to order unique keepsake gifts

Start with a quality image

First, choose a favorite artwork created by your child. Artworks with bold, rich colors work best. It’s important to avoid using any designs that might be copyrighted, like a cartoon or Disney character. By law, those will have to be rejected… just so you know!

Next, take a photo or scan the artwork. (Important – it must have a resolution of at least 2200 x 1700 in order to upload to the Kids Kreations website.) Rectangular images will work best. You’ll be able to rotate the image if necessary when you choose your product. You can see some examples of projects that have worked well here, here, and here.

If you don’t already have just the right artwork (and not enough time to create it), a special family photo will work, too! But remember, it must be high resolution – at least 2200 x 1700, and you must be the owner of the image.

Upload your image to the Kids Kreations website

Go to the Kids Kreations website and click on the small green button at the very top of every page that says, “Upload Artwork…“. (I usually drag the image I want to use to my desktop to make it easier to find.)

Next, select “Choose Artwork…” and click on the photo you want to use. Your image will upload to the site. In the lower-left corner of this page, you’ll have the option to rotate your photo to best fit the product you want it printed on. You may not know what that is yet, so just remember this is where you’ll come back to once you figure that out!

Then, click “Next” in the lower right corner.

On the next page, you’ll enter the name of the artist (or teacher and grade if you’re doing this for a school) and click “Done“.

Voila! Now you’ll see your image superimposed on every product so you’ll know exactly how it would look on each one.

Choose the product(s) you want to order

Not choosing everything may be the hardest part of this process! From note cards to jigsaw puzzles to tote bags, blankets, phone and tablet cases, and even face masks… you’re sure to find something for everyone! I counted over 60 unique products that are practical, useful, and won’t get stuffed in a drawer and forgotten about.

The order process is straightforward from there and shipping is only an $8 flat rate – unless you need it quicker! You can always call them if you have questions: 866-652-3770.

Prepare to be delighted!

I have personally seen most of the Kids Kreations products and can vouch for the quality of both the products and the printing. And their customer service is the absolute BEST! Their turn-around time is quick, but before major holidays you should allow 2-3 weeks, just to be safe.
